The Country Inn was opened for business in the late 1960s by Jap Reynolds and Panny Goodson. Originally, it was located in a little white house on Hwy. 370 near Brice's Cross Roads.

The present building on Grisham Street was constructed when Melvin and Sue Nell Grisham bought the business in 1975. The Grishams, along with their daugher, Bobby DeVaughn and her husband, Gary, owned and operated the business until August of 1990.

Jackie and Brenda Cole then purchased the restaurant and have owned and operated the well-known restaurant since.

In the summer of 1992, the Coles expanded the restaurant's seating to accomodate 200.

In December 1995, the Coles, along with their daughter, Carol, son-in-law, Ken Cooper, and granddaughters, Colby and Alese, opened "The Country Inn Too" in Ripley, Mississippi.
